Drawing the House with the Blue Door

We’ve only had this historic little chalet for nearly three years, but I can’t imagine spring and summer without being able to sit on the suntrap decking while listening to the tide come in, or watching the swallows overhead. It’s only six miles from our home, but when we go to the Humberston Fitties our daily worries seem to blow away with the seaside breeze. These chalets have been providing escapes since the early decades of the 20th century to local families, who originally built their little seaside Idahos using whatever materials came readily to hand. Nearly one hundred years later it’s as though the holiday spirit has seeped into the timbers and the soil of this place and wraps you in its salty embrace each time you return.
